Wonderful news! We have arranged to have a very distinguished speaker for our October 2, 2010 meeting, which we will move to a larger facility. The library has expressed interest in hosting this upcoming event as well as two universities and possibly the Burnham Institute. Our speaker will be Dr. Forrest M. Bird, inventor of the life-saving respirator which is found in most hospitals around the world. He is a very accomplished inventor, entrepreneur, and aviator, and he was installed in the Inventor's Hall of Fame several years ago. His wife, Dr. Pamela Riddle Bird, is the founder and director of Innovative Technologies, Inc. She has conducted numerous Innovation Workshops around the State of Florida, and we have worked together for these events since 1982.

Also, your President has been elected to represent Central Florida and the Southeastern States Region members of the largest professional engineering organization in the world, the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) to their Intellectual Property Committee in Washington, DC. This committee works directly with legislators and with the directors of the USPTO on policy and practical matters concerning inventors, innovation in America and on patent protection issues worldwide.

Respectfully submitted,
Dr. David E. Flinchbaugh, P.E., C.Mfg.E.
